New Era Consulting
It was a pleasure to work with Karen on a new website for New Era Consulting! Karen is a well-qualified licensed immigration consultant and lecturer and has successfully grown her business in the years since she started out on her own.
Her old website was created when she did not have other staff members on board. It had not been updated in a while, and was not built to be responsive/easily viewed on mobile. It did not showcase New Era Consulting's full strength and capabilities.
The goal was to give her website a professional, modern and visually appealing appearance, and have it be easy to navigate and up to date with her current team structure and services.
The result:
- A beautiful website with stunning New Zealand imagery which complements the work of New Era Consulting
- A new layout for the website with additional content and pages, team members profiles, and a Contact form
- CMS switched over to WordPress from a host-based CMS—providing access to WordPress plugins and functionality, as well as more flexibility down the track in terms of web hosting arrangements
- Google Analytics installed to start accurately capturing site stats (note: GA has since been removed and replaced with Plausible Analytics)
Karen's feedback:
Mel has been a superstar, dragging our website out of the ark and making it a much better product to both navigate and look at. Would highly recommend Mel for any website work!

NZAIP
The NZAIP committee was keen to have a website refresh. Their old website was created some time ago and had not been updated in a while. Some functionality was no longer working.
The goal was to create a new membership website with an updated, modern appearance and a set of working, up-to-date plugins.
Aside from their logo and a request for the image of Mt Cook to be used on the landing page, there were no images, colour palette or style guide in place. Following discussion the blue in their logo was used as the primary colour on the website. Along with bright orange as an accent the website was designed to feel both professional and approachable.
This is the first membership site I have built, and was a good learning experience for me!
The result:
- A membership website with a new look and different navigation menus/pages for normal users and logged-in users
- A working membership registration cycle and members' area, with the use of Restrict Content Pro
- Committee members' photos included to lend a more personal touch
- New Contact form installed
Kristy's feedback:
We engaged Fundamental Web* to assist our association with the development of an updated website that was more modern, user friendly and fit for purpose. Mel was very responsive and her fees were fair and reasonable. We are extremely happy with the quality of her work.

* Fundamental Web was the name I gave my web design work at the start.
